A little bit about wood shingles

Wood shingles, besides other natural building materials such as reed or heather, are probably the oldest roof covering of residential buildings invented by man. The oldest shingles covering the roofs of the old building structures at present in heritage parks are less than 100 years old. However, they were made hundreds of years before when mechanical woodworking was unavailable. A tool of special construction was needed to produce them.

Nowadays these tools are no longer used and wood shingle is made mainly by machines. The shingles are either:

  1. cut by circular saws, which our company produces or
  2. machine split.
